Ruturaj Gaikwad equalled legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar's feat on Sunday as he became the joint-fastest Indian to score 1000 runs in the history of the Indian Premier League. Gaikwad, who took 31 innings to reach the landmark, hit Sunrisers Hyderabad paceman Marco Jansen for a biggie on the first ball of the sixth over to reach the four-digit mark in IPL.
After a poor start to the season, Ruturaj Gaikwad returned back to form during Chennai Super Kings' match against SunRisers Hyderabad at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Gaikwad smashed a brilliant 99 as CSK went on to post a total of 202 for two in 20 overs. During his knock against SRH, Ruturaj completed 1,000 runs in the IPL. It took Gaikwad just 31 innings to reach the milestone, the joint-fastest Indian to do so. Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, who plied his trade for the Mumbai Indians, also took 31 innings to achieve the feat.

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 46 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season, at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Sunday. SRH are currently fourth in the IPL 2022 Points Table with 10 points from eight fixtures (including five wins and three defeats). In their previous outing, SRH crashed to a defeat against Gujarat Titans (GT), losing by five wickets. But the franchise also had many positives to look at including Umran Malik's five-wicket haul. Meanwhile, CSK are ninth in the standings with four points from eight fixtures (two wins and six losses). The franchise lost to Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their previous fixture, losing by 11 runs. The upcoming fixture will also see MS Dhoni take over CSK's captaincy from Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja had taken over the baton from Dhoni ahead of the ongoing season but hasn't been at his best yet. PV Sindhu was left in tears after an "unfair" call by the umpires midway through her semifinal match against Japan's Akane Yamaguchi derailed her dream of winning a gold at the Badminton Asia Championships. Leading 14-11 in the second game after having won the first, Sindhu was handed a point penalty for taking too much time to serve between points. The 26-year-old from Hyderabad lost her momentum after that incident, losing 21-13, 19-21, 16-21 to eventually sign off with a bronze medal, her second in the continental individual championship.

Despite the loss, SunRisers Hyderabad are very much in the reckoning for a place in the playoffs, currently on 10 points from eight games. Washington Sundar made a return from injury in their previous match, and overall the team looks to have a settled playing XI and not much is expected to change when they face their Southern rivals.

The all-round abilities of Jordan could help him make a comeback in the playing XI and guide CSK to winning ways. CSK are currently ninth with two wins from 8 games while SRH are placed fourth with five wins from 8 games.
