India's Asia Cup Super 4 clash against arch-rivals Pakistan, ended with the Babar-Azam side walking away with a five-wicket win on Sunday, at the Dubai International Stadium. Despite losing the game, Team India had many positives from the game like return of Virat Kohli's vintage form, as he smashed 60 runs off 44 balls and a fiery partnership between the openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. However, former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar feels that the problem is not with the Indian batting line-up as it is quite deep and it was just a case of lower-order not contributing much with the bat.
India pacer Mohammed Shami has come out in support of young seamer Arshdeep Singh, who is being subjected to criticism on social media after dropping a catch against Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super 4s match on Sunday at the Dubai International Stadium. Arshdeep dropped the catch in the 18th over of the innings and hence Asif Ali got a life. In the end, Pakistan walked away with a five-wicket win.
23-year-old pacer Arshdeep Singh was subjected to severe criticism on social media after he dropped a catch during the Asia Cup Super 4 match against Pakistan on Sunday at the Dubai International Stadium. Rohit Sharma-led Team India lost the match by five wickets and after that, Arshdeep is being attacked by trolls on social media. However, the pacer has told his parents that he is laughing at the tweets he is reading on the internet and he is only going to take positives out of it.
India lost their opening match of the Super-4 stage to Pakistan on Sunday. The thrilling Asia Cup game at the Dubai International Stadium went till the final over where the Babar Azam-led side won by 5 wickets. Posting 181 for 7 on the board in the stipulated 20 overs, India had a good chance of making it two in two against Pakistan in the ongoing continental event but Mohammad Rizwan's 71 off 51 balls and Mohammad Nawaz's crucial cameo of 42 off 20 balls took Pakistan home.
Having introspected on his recent struggles with form, the star batter now seems calmer, more accepting. He also seems closer to rediscovering his groove, which is good news for Team India...DUBAI: When Virat Kohli met the press following Sunday's match against Pakistan, he instructed the media manager to not ignore anyone. It was his first interaction with the media since he relinquished Test captaincy in January. These days, Kohli seems to exude an unusual calm. The chest-thumping persona seems to have taken a backseat. In the past, especially in press conferences, there would be an air of bravado around Kohli, a sort of in-your-face intensity. On Sunday, he appeared relaxed, laidback even. His comments about MS Dhoni being the only person who messaged him after he gave up Test captaincy have now gone viral. But the crux of that statement was that Kohli believes he can now see through people. "When you have respect for someone and that's genuine, then it looks like that because there is a sense of security on both sides," he said of Dhoni's gesture. "Somehow, I live my life with honesty, and I can see through these things. I won't say these things don't bother me, but you see the truth." He spoke without aggression.
After facing a defeat against Pakistan in their opening game of the Super 4s stage at the ongoing Asia Cup, Rohit Sharma-led Team India will look to change their fortunes around when they square off against Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday. India had suffered a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Pakistan and they need to win against Sri Lanka in order to keep their hopes alive of making it to the final. It would be interesting to see what combination Team India goes in with and whether the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal and Rishabh Pant retain their place in the playing XI.
