With COVID-19 cases starting to decline across the country, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has decided to hold the selection trials for rifle and pistol shooters in March and April this year. The selection trials -- one and two -- for rifle will be held from March 8 to 21 in Bhopal and the pistol trials in Delhi. The selection trials -- three and four -- will be conducted from March 26 to April 7 for rifle in Delhi and pistol in Bhopal. The Indian shooting team for the upcoming ISSF World Cup in Cairo was picked after taking into consideration the qualification scores along with final ranking points of the 64th National Championship as the selection trials could not be held owing to the pandemic.

Delhi High Court on Friday sought the stand of Delhi police on the bail plea by Olympic medallist wrestler Sushil Kumar in the Chhatrasal Stadium murder case. Justice Mukta Gupta issued notice on the plea by the wrestler, who was arrested on May 23 last year and listed the case for further hearing on March 28. Kumar along with others is accused of allegedly assaulting former junior national wrestling champion Sagar Dhankar and his friends at the stadium in May 2021 over an alleged property dispute.

Ranji Trophy, which will be held in two phases, will kick off from February 10 and conclude on June 26, BCCI secretary Jay Shah communicated to all the state associations in an e-mail (TOI has a copy) which detailed the format of the tournament, on Thursday. Listing out the highlights of the 2020-21 edition of the Ranji Trophy, Shah informed that a total of 38 teams will feature in the tournament at nine venues. IPL 2022 Mega Auction: Full list of 17 Indians with base price of Rs 2 crore

IPL player auction will be held over two days - February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. The highest base price category is Rs 2 Crore. A total of 17 Indian cricketers with a base price of Rs 2 crore will go under the hammer this time. Rs 2 crore is the highest reserve price. As many as 48 players in all (17 Indian and 31 foreigners) have chosen to place themselves in this bracket in the final auction list which stands at 590 players. A total of 1214 players had earlier registered for the auction. The Indian cricket board released a list of 590 cricketers (370 Indian players and 220 overseas players) who will be up for grabs during the two-day mega auction. Amongst 590 players, 228 are capped players, 355 are uncapped players and 7 belong to Associate Nations.
