"When FIZZ Goes FLAT In A Spit": Ravi Shastri Praises Dinesh Karthik For "T20 Special"

Aiming for a comeback into the Indian cricket team, Dinesh Karthik has been in blistering form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. The veteran was released by KKR after last season and was roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 5.50 crore during the mega auction this year. Since then, he has gone on to become a pivotal figure for the franchise and has remained unbeaten on five out of six occasions, also smacking match-winning knocks. In his side's latest outing against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday, Karthik slammed an unbeaten knock of 66 runs off 34 balls to help RCB win the game by 16 runs. During his innings, he also clattered five fours and five sixes. He received plenty of praise from fans and experts after the game and was on the receiving end of some special words from former India head coach Ravi Shastri.

IPL 2022: We could've batted better in the middle overs, says Delhi Capitals' skipper Rishabh Pant after defeat against RCB

Delhi Capitals' (DC) captain Rishabh Pant blamed his middle- and lower-order batters for failing to capitalise on the platform provided by David Warner with a blazing half-century as they lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 16 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) here on Saturday. Warner struck a brilliant 66 and had taken Delhi to 94/1 in the 12th over when he got out. Mitchell Marsh scratched around for 24 deliveries to score 14 and Lalit Yadav and Rovman Powell failed to contribute much as Delhi lost their way in their chase of 189/5 posted by RCB after being asked to bat first. Pant himself blasted a 17-ball 34 but in the end Delhi's chase lost steam and they ended at 173/7 in 20 overs.

IPL 2022: Points Table Update, Latest Orange Cap, Purple Cap Lists After DC vs RCB Match 27

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday beat Delhi Capitals by 16 runs despite getting off to a rocky start with the bat in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 encounter. A counter-attacking half-century from Glenn Maxwell and a blinder to finish things off by Dinesh Karthik powered them to 189/5 and then Josh Hazlewood, Mohammed Siraj and Wanindu Hasaranga helped them restrict the Rishabh Pant-led side to 173/7. Maxwell scored 55 off 34, while Karthik finished unbeaten on 66 off as 34. Warner hit a brilliant 38-ball 66 in Delhi's chase, but the team crumbled after his wicket, despite a fighting effort from captain Pant (34 off 17).

Watch: Virat Kohli Gets Run Out For Second Time In IPL 2022, Stunned By Lalit Yadav

Virat Kohli's poor batting form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season continued as he was once again dismissed cheaply in Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) recent win against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The 33-year-old was run out by Lalit Yadav for 12 runs off 14 balls on the seventh over of RCB's innings. Receiving a length delivery from Shardul Thakur, Kohli directed it towards point and went for a single but Glenn Maxwell (non-striker) sent him back. The former RCB captain was caught short by Yadav, who collected the ball to complete a successful direct hit at the same time towards the striker's end, which was further confirmed by the third umpire.

IPL 2022: I prefer setting small goals, says KKR pacer Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav is the latest to join that brigade with his super show in the first half of the tournament so far. Umesh, who last played white-ball cricket for India in February 2019 in a T20I match against Australia in Visakhapatnam, did not get enough opportunities to represent the country in the shortest format, playing only seven T20Is in his career. Even in the mega auction before this IPL, he initially went unsold till Kolkata Knight Riders bought him for Rs 2 crore.
