In a mail sent by BCCI early on Sunday morning, it was confirmed that the Rohit was down with COVID-19. The rescheduled test in the final fixtre of the Test series that the Indian cricket team is leading 2-1 and was stalled last year due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the Indian camp. England will be playing India on the back of the three-Test series against New Zealand and former off-spinner Graeme Swann believes it would make the hosts slight favourites going into the rescheduled fifth Test starting in Birmingham on Friday. England on Monday completed a 3-0 series whitewash against New Zealand after wining the third and final Test by seven wickets. "England are in a very good position and I would say they are slight favourites because of that series (against New Zealand)," Swann said in a virtual interaction, facilitated by Sony Sports, official broadcasters of India-England series.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said on Tuesday. The series will be held between November 18 to 30 and New Zealand will return to India for a white-ball series in January next year. "India will arrive in New Zealand at the conclusion of the world cup to play the BLACKCAPS in three T20s at Wellington, Tauranga and Napier, and three ODIs at Auckland, Hamilton and Christchurch," NZC said in a release.
With Rohit Sharma testing positive for COVID-19, there are questions marks on who will lead India in the re-scheduled Test match against England, beginning in Birmingham on July 1. Several names are doing the rounds to lead India, if Rohit does not recover in time for the match. India lead the series 2-1, which got stalled midway last year due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the Indian camp and even a draw in the upcoming test will be enough for the side to register their fourth Test series win in England.
