My coaches are being harassed regularly, politics is affecting my training: Lovlina Borgohain - timesofindia.indiatimes.com - Ireland - India - Birmingham - Istanbul

My coaches are being harassed regularly, politics is affecting my training: Lovlina Borgohain

Commonwealth Games are being hampered because of the "continuous harassment" her coaches are facing from the authorities. The Indian boxing squad reached the Games Village on Sunday night after a training stint in Ireland but Lovlina's personal coach Sandhya Gurung could not enter the Village since she does not have accreditation. Lovlina, perhaps, wanted her personal coach Amey Kolekar with her during the CWG but he did not feature in the long list. The decorated pugilist expressed her anger in a long Twitter post. "Today with a lot of grief, I want to tell everyone about the continuous harassment going on with me. The coaches who helped me win an Olympic medal are always being side-lined which has severely impacted my training schedule," Lovlina wrote in her twitter post.

Bishweshwar Nandi Named Women's Gymnastic Team Coach For Commonwealth Games 2022

Gymnastics coach Bishweshwar Nandi, who guided Dipa Karmakar to a historic fourth place finish at the 2016 Rio Olympics, has been named coach of the Indian women's team for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in place of controversial Rohit Jaiswal. Jaiswal, who was earlier designated as the women's team coach, was dropped from the CWG-bound team after he was accused by gymnast Aruna Budda Reddy for videographing her without her consent. Hosting CWG has to be more affordable: Birmingham 2022 CEO

Commonwealth Games have been staged outside the UK or Australia and the CEO of the upcoming Birmingham edition, Ian Reid, feels the multi-sporting event needs to be 'more affordable' to be hosted across 56 member nations. Delhi 2010 was the last edition to be held outside Australia or the UK over the past two decades. Australia will be hosting the 2026 Games as well across four centres in the state of Victoria.

From 1998 to 2018: India's performance in the last six CWG editions
