Molly Caudery reckons technical tinkering can propel her towards a multi-sport European Championship medal in Munich. The Redruth pole vaulter advanced to Wednesday evening's final on Monday after comfortably clearing the bar at 4.50m. Eilish McColgan admits the emotional hangover of her memorable Commonwealth Games scuppered her hopes of landing more major glory at the multi-sport European Championships in Munich. The Scottish athlete, 31, was dramatically crowned 10,000m champion in Birmingham earlier this month and followed it up with European silver behind Turkish star Yasemin Can on Monday night. Ad McColgan, whose mum Liz won two Commonwealth Games titles over the same distance in 1986 and 1990, clocked a time of 30:41.05 to finish just over eight seconds behind Can and ahead of Lonah Chemtai Salpeter in third.

Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry has extended her stay with Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) club Sydney Sixers and will represent the side in the eighth season of the competition. Perry is a foundation member of the Sixers, who has skippered the club in all editions of the world's premier women's domestic competition, including titles in WBBL 02 and WBBL 03. A product of NSW's pathways system, the 31-year-old now plays her state cricket for Victoria but said she had never considered playing for any other WBBL franchise.
