Eliud Kipchoge said he developed an upper left leg issue about 18 miles into Monday’s Boston Marathon, shortly before he was dropped from the lead pack en route to finishing sixth for his third defeat in 18 career 26.2-mile races.
Eliud Kipchoge finished sixth at the 2023 Boston Marathon in 2:09:23, his slowest ever marathon and his poorest showing since he finished eighth at the 2020 London Marathon. Ad Chebet has won his last three marathons, winning the New York City race in 2022.
