ZHANGJIAKOU, China — Attorneys for the U.S. figure skaters whose Olympic silver medals are being withheld have notified the IOC that they have filed an appeal to have them awarded before the end of the Beijing Games, The Associated Press has learned.

The Indian delegation, led by Ms Ambani, also included Indian Olympic Association (IOC) president Narinder Batra, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and India’s first individual Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra. “It’s a great moment of pride for India as this Olympic session will inspire a youth-heavy population of the country to adapt to a vibrant sporting culture,” say those who were tracking developments.
