How MS Dhoni's Golden Words Helped Mohammed Siraj When "People Said Quit Cricket"

India pacer Mohammed Siraj has revealed that he thought his Indian Premier League (IPL) was over after a poor 2019 campaign with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). In the nine matches Siraj played in 2019 for RCB, he took seven wickets and conceded runs at an economy rate of 9.55. In the game against KKR, Siraj conceded 36 runs in 2.2 overs and he was forced out of the attack after bowling two beamers.

Virat Kohli says he was approached a few times by IPL franchises in past

Virat Kohli has revealed that he was "approached a few times" by few IPL franchises in the past to put himself in the auction but he preferred to stay at Royal Challengers Bangalore. The former India captain, who stepped down as RCB skipper at the end of last season after eight years in charge, is the only cricketer to have played for one franchise since the league's inaugural edition in 2008. "I've been approached a few times as well -- to come into the auction somehow -- I have thought about it," Kohli told the RCB podcast.

IPL 2022 Mega Auction: RCB May Bid Handsomely For Jason Holder, Says Report

Former West Indies captain and one of world's premier all-rounders Jason Holder could well turn out to be one of the most expensive buys at this edition of Indian Premier League's mega-auction with Royal Challengers Bangalore expected to bid heavily for him. If sources privy to RCB's auction strategy are to be believed, the franchise that has Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj in its ranks as retained players, are likely to bid up till Rs 12 crore because of his multiple skill-sets, which is a rarity in this format.

Auction Action: RCB may bid handsomely for Jason Holder

"Ben Stokes isn't available, Hardik Pandya and Marcus Stoinis are taken. Mitchell Marsh you never know whether he can survive a full IPL with his injury prone career, Holder has been phenomenal if one looks at his record. RCB will like to go the distance as some others will also pitch in," a source close to franchise told PTI on conditions of anonymity. It is understood that RCB, who have Rs 57 crore in their auction purse are interested about three players including Holder, former CSK batter Ambati Rayudu and young ex-Rajasthan Royals turk Riyan Parag.

If Virat Kohli can take over captaincy, that will be the easiest solution for RCB: Ajit Agarkar - timesofindia.indiatimes.com - India - Bangalore

If Virat Kohli can take over captaincy, that will be the easiest solution for RCB: Ajit Agarkar

Virat Kohli can take over the captaincy of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, it will be the easiest solution for the franchise. Kohli had stepped down as RCB skipper after IPL 2021 and was retained by the franchise ahead of the mega auction 2022. "If Virat Kohli can take over the captaincy and if he is happy to do it and if he has the energy to do it, I think that will be the easiest solution for them. At the end of the day, we have seen RCB over the years; they haven't invested enough money in making a proper team of 12, 13 or 14 players with enough depth," said Agarkar on Star Sports show 'Game Plan: IPL auction special'.

"If Virat Kohli Can Take Over...": Ajit Agarkar On "Easiest Solution" For Royal Challengers Bangalore

Former India pacer Ajit Agarkar said if Virat Kohli is willing to take up the captaincy again then it could be the "easiest solution" for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of IPL 2022. Kohli had decided to quit as RCB's captain weeks after announcing that the 2021 World Cup would be his last as India's captain in the shortest format of the game. In December last year, the prolific right-hander was replaced by Rohit Sharma as India's white-ball skipper and a month later, Kohli decided to quit as Test captain following a 1-2 defeat to South Africa. Kohli, however, was retained by RCB as a player and Agarkar feels it might just be the best thing for RCB if he continues as the leader.
