Punjab Kings' captain Mayank Agarwal hailed bowler Arshdeep Singh as the leader in the team, after his side's 54-run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Friday. With a brilliant economy rate of 6.80 in his four-over spell of 1/27, Arshdeep played a key role in Punjab's comprehensive win at the Brabourne Stadium here. After the match, while talking about Arshdeep, skipper Agarwal said: "Very, very energetic person. Very confident guy, enjoys his cricket. Must say he's the leader in the team. Very Enjoyable Being Back At The Top: Jonny Bairstow After 66-Run Knock vs RCB

Bairstow's 66 off just 29 balls with the help of four boundaries and seven sixes laid the foundation for a 54-run win for Punjab Kings against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday.

Punjab Kings emerged victorious on Friday night, beating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 54 runs at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai to keep their hopes alive of qualifying for the IPL 2022 playoffs. Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone starred for PBKS with the bat while Kagiso Rabada was the standout with the ball in hand. Apart from their off-field performance, Punjab Kings are also winning hearts off the field, with their post for Virat Kohli going viral on Instagram.

IPL 2022: Jonny Bairstow set it up for us, says Liam Livingstone after Punjab Kings' win over RCB

Punjab Kings' all-rounder Liam Livingstone credited his compatriot Jonny Bairstow with setting the tone for his team's comprehensive 54-run over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) with a blazing knock in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the Brabourne Stadium here on Friday. Bairstow hammered 66 off 29 deliveries, hitting four boundaries and seven huge sixes in a brilliant display of power-hitting that set the stage for Livingstone's 42-ball 70 that took Punjab Kings to 209/9 in 20 overs. In reply, RCB were restricted to 155/9, with the team from the south losing its momentum after former skipper Virat Kohli and his successor Faf du Plessis were out in the powerplay with the score 34/2 in the fifth over. Rajat Patidar (26) and Glenn Maxwell (35) raised 51 runs for the fourth wicket but once they were dismissed, RCB's chase lost steam.

IPL 2022: A Virat Kohli 'epic is around the corner', says RCB's Mike Hesson

Indian Premier League (IPL) is not due to any technical issue and a big knock is imminent from the star batsman, Royal Challengers Bangalore coach Mike Hesson said. Kohli has managed only one fifty in 13 innings this season and scored three ducks despite playing with new-found freedom having relinquished Bangalore captaincy last year. Against Punjab Kings on Friday, he failed to capitalise on another good start and was dismissed for 20 but the 33-year-old appeared to still enjoy the backing of the team.

IPL 2022: Fans Train Guns At RCB's Mohammed Siraj After Yet Another Poor Outing

Royal Challengers Bangalore's hopes of making the playoffs received a big setback after their 54-run loss to Punjab Kings meant that they remain on 14 points with just one match remaining for them. RCB's net run-rate also suffered and this could be a big problem with quite a few teams breathing down their necks in the race for the playoffs. On Friday, two RCB bowlers had a nightmare -- Mohammed Siraj and Josh Hazlewood. While the Australian has been impressive all season, and the performance against PBKS was probably just a blip, Siraj has been poor throughout IPL 2022.
