Shahbaz Ahmed has expressed his delight on getting a maiden national call-up for India's ODI series against Zimbabwe. After his impressive performances for West Bengal in the Ranji Trophy 2022 and for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL this year, the selectors decided to give the player a chance to join the Indian team during its ongoing tour of Zimbabwe. The series has three ODI matches, starting August 18. The 27-year-old Shahbaz has been rewarded for his stellar performance in the 2022 IPL season, where he turned out for Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Bengal left-arm spinner collected 219 runs and four wickets in 16 matches, leaving a mark.

In the book, titled "Black & White", Taylor recalled when one of the owners of Rajasthan Royals during his stint with the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise slapped him across the face after he had gotten out for a duck in a steep chase against Punjab Kings, who were then named Kings XI Punjab. He did write that the slaps were not hard, but said that he was not sure "it was entirely play-acting".
