Pat Cummins to stay home, Steve Smith named captain of Australian team for ODI series against India, Cricket Australia has confirmed. Cummins had returned home after the first two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India to be with his ailing mother who was in palliative care. A few days later, Cummins' mother sadly passed away. In the pacer's absence, Steve Smith led the Australian team in the 3rd and 4th Test against Australia. Speaking of the development, Australia head coach Andrew McDonald confirmed that Smith will continue to lead Australia on the India tour.

The 'Naatu Naatu' fever gripped the whole of India as the RRR number won the Best Original Song at Oscars 2023. SS Rajamouli's movie became the first Indian track to win the Academy Award in the Best Original Song category. As entire India celebrated the movie's accomplishment, even the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad was buzzing with its echoes. Sunil Gavaskar, legendary Indian cricketer who is doing commentary in the series, was seen doing the 'Naatu Naatu' dance step ahead of the start of play on Day 5.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, arguably the most-potent spin pair in the world at the moment, were named as joint-men of the series after India secured a 2-1 triumph over Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. After sharing the award with each other, Ashwin and Jadeja recreated an epic comedy scene from an Akshay Kumar movie in the Indian dressing room after the Ahmedabad Test. Ashwin himself shared the video on his official Instagram account and it has since gone viral on social media, winning the hearts of fans all over the globe.

India all-rounder Axar Patel on Monday became the fastest Indian bowler to take 50 wickets in Test cricket, in terms of balls bowled. Axar achieved the feat on Day 5 of the just-concluded fourth Test between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Axar reached the landmark after dismissing Travis Head (90) in the second session. With his wicket, Axar went past pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the elite list. While Bumrah took 2,465 deliveries to take 50 Test wickets, Axar achieved the same feat in just 2,205 balls.
