Neeraj Chopra's first throw at the Asian Games 2023 was not counted by the organisers following a technical glitch during the men's javelin event. Neeraj looked in brilliant form as he pulled off a massive throw on the very first attempt and it looked like he has easily breached the 85m mark. However, confusion ensued among the event organisers as they were unable to measure the throw properly due to a technical glitch and as a result, Neeraj was asked to retake the throw. The first official attempt for Neeraj went for 82.38m and he followed it up with an even better attempt of 84.49m.

In the final moments of the race, it seemed as if Harmilan was destined to finish fourth, outside medal contention. However, she found another gear in the closing moments of the race to move past the Chinese duo of Chunyu Wang and Xinyu Rao and clinch silver. Harmilan clocked 2:03.75s to claim the second position, falling 0.55s short of Sri Lanka's Tharushi, who topped the chart and won gold with a timing of 2:03.20s.

Indian women crushed Uzbekistan 4-0, while the men were held to a 2-2 draw by China in the sixth round of the chess team competition in the Asian on Wednesday. Against China, the top-seeded Indian men saw games on all four boards ending in draws. The country's top player D Gukesh and Chinese GM Wei Yi played out a draw, while R Prgannanandhaa held Xiangzhi Bu on the second board. Vidit Gujarathi and P Harikrishna, playing on boards three and four respectively, shared honours with Qun Ma and Xiangyu Xu.

A huge controversy erupted during Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra's javelin throw event at the Asian Games when his first attempt was not measured, prompting legendary Anju Bobby George to accuse the Chinese officials of "trying to cheat" and "deliberately targeting the Indians". It seemed Chopra had comfortably cleared the 85m mark but to his surprise the effort was not recorded by the officials and he was not given any reason for that. "I don't know why they did not measure my first throw. Just after me, the second and third competitors had their throws and their distance were measured. I kept on asking what happened to my first throw," Chopra told reporters after winning gold medal on his fourth attempt.
Asian Games 2023: Indian Men's Hockey Team Storms Into Final, Defeats South Korea 5-3
Continuing its dominating performance, India men's hockey team defeated South Korea 5-3 in the semi-final to set up a summit clash at the Asian Games. Hardik Singh (5'), Mandeep Singh (11'), Lalit Kumar Upadhyay (15'), Amit Rohidas (24') and Abhishek (54') scored to guide the Indian men's hockey team to the final. Jung Manjae (17', 20', 42') scored a hat-trick for South Korea. The Indian men's hockey team will face the winner of the other semi-final match between China and Japan in the gold medal match on Friday.
