Nida Dar To Lead Pakistan As PCB Announces 15-Member Squad For Asian Games

Left-arm spinner Anoosha Nasir and right-handed batter Shawaal Zulfiqar have been rewarded for their strong performances in the ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup and Emerging Women's Teams Asia Cup with maiden call-ups in Pakistan's senior women's squad for the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. "The 15-player squad also features Diana Baig who makes a return to international cricket after recovering from a finger injury that she sustained in the third and final One-Day International against Australia in January this year," Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in an official statement.

Ex-Pakistan Skipper Opts Out Of Asian Games Due To 'No-Children Rule'

Former Pakistan women's cricket team skipper Bismah Maroof decided to opt out of Hangzhou Asian Games because of the event's rules that do not allow the competing athletes to carry their children. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced Maroof's decision while naming the 15-player squad for the competition which was picked by a committee comprising of Saleem Jaffar, head coach Mark Coles and captain Nida Dar. “The team is unfortunate to miss out on the services of Bismah Maroof for this event as she would not have been able to accompany her infant daughter to the Games village due to the regulations in place,” Head of Women Cricket, Tania Mallick said.

Fresh from winning the Korea Open, India's top men's doubles pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy on Tuesday rose to a career-best second spot in the latest BWF rankings. Satwik and Chirag gained a place, displacing the Chinese pair of Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang whom they had defeated in the Korea Open semifinals last week, to achieve a new career-high ranking in the men's doubles circuit. Indian Women's Softball Team Set To Debut At Asian Games

Softball Association of India (SBAI) on Monday announced a 16-member Indian women's team, which is all set to make its debut at the upcoming Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China. With softball making its debut at the continental event, starting on September 23, SBAI announced the squad along with a standby and three reserves, which was selected after trials for the probable's list, followed by a two-week coaching camp-cum-trials held in Delhi in June-July. Considering the Indian women's softball team's regular participation in the Asian championships, Softball Asia granted a wild card entry to India.
