Two-time champions India will look to make a winning start against Asian rivals Korea in their pursuit of another podium finish in the FIH men's Junior World Cup hockey tournament starting here on Tuesday. India have won the tournament twice, in 2001 in Hobart and 2016 in Lucknow, besides finishing runners-up once in Milton Keyes, England in 1997. In the last edition of the event in Bhubaneswar two years back, the Indians finished fourth and they would be hoping to clinch their fourth podium at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil here.

Annu's brace went in vain as India lost 2-3 to Belgium in a closely-contested Pool C match to slump to their second consecutive defeat in the FIH Junior World Cup Santiago, Chile on Saturday. Annu (47th, 51st minutes) struck twice in a span of four minutes from a penalty corner and a penalty stroke to draw level after Belgium raced to a 2-0 lead through goals from Noa Schreurs (fifth) and France de Mot (42nd). But it was not India's day as Astrid Bonami scored the winner from a penalty stroke in the 52nd minute.

Hockey Women's Junior World Cup 2023: India go down 3-4 against Germany
The Indian Junior Women's Hockey Team put up a solid show in their second game of the FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup 2023 but the runners-up of the last edition of the elite tournament, Germany, came from behind to register a 4-3 victory in a thrilling match played in Santiago, Chile, on Friday. For India, Annu (11'), Ropni Kumari (14'), and Mumtaz Khan (24') were the goalscorers, while Sophia Schwabe (17'), Laura Pluth (21', 36'), and Carolin Seidel's (38') netted goals for Germany. India quickly settled into a passing rhythm, dominating the game in the opening quarter by controlling possession and continuously testing Germany's defensive line.
