Amassing 344 runs at an average of 172 over the course of the two Tests, Mathews registered a huge score of 199 in the draw at Chattogram, and a supreme 145 not out in Mirpur.
The war in Ukraine is causing huge disruptions in world food markets since both countries are huge producers of grain, oil and fertiliser. Ukrainian grain ready for export is stuck in port because the Black Sea is now a no-go zone. Meanwhile, two Britons and a Moroccan who were fighting for Ukraine have been sentenced to death by court in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic.
Afghanistan completed a 3-0 whitewash of Zimbabwe on Thursday in a one-day international series in Harare, but made heavy weather of chasing a modest target due to some lacklustre batting. Set just 136 to win, the tourists scored slowly and lost wickets to be in trouble at 60-4 after the last ball of the 20th over. Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi (38) and Mohammad Nabi (34 not out) then patiently turned the tide, steadily adding the runs that eventually delivered a four-wicket victory with 74 balls to spare.
