Kemar Roach Targets 300 Wickets As West Indies Aim For Series Win Vs Bangladesh

When Kemar Roach marks out his run in the second Test against Bangladesh, which starts at the Daren Sammy Stadium on Friday, he will do so knowing that he is just one wicket short of joining a very select group of West Indian bowlers. The 33-year-old Barbadian pace bowler goes into the Test with 249 wickets to his name, the same as a legend of the 1970s and 80s, Michael Holding. One more scalp and Roach will become just the sixth West Indies bowler to joint the '250 Club', following Courtney Walsh (519 wickets), Curtly Ambrose (405), Malcolm Marshall (376), Lance Gibbs (309) and Joel Garner (259).

Bangladesh rule out two more players during West Indies tour

Bangladesh has ruled out two more cricketers in its ongoing West Indies tour with all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin and batsman Yasir Ali both struck from the squad. Saifuddin was pulled out after failing to regain his fitness for the series, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said Thursday. "We feel that at the moment he has not reached the bowling fitness level required to cope with the intensity of international cricket," BCB chief physician Debashis Chowdhury said in a statement. The 25-year-old last played an international match in October 2021. Yasir Ali was also ruled out of the tour's T20 and ODI matches after failing to recover from a back injury sustained during a three-day warm-up match in Antigua, the BCB said Wednesday.
