Heath Streak, legendary Zimbabwe cricketer who also coached Bangladesh men's national cricket team in the past, dies at the age of 49 after a prolonged cancer battle. Streak was one of the most decorated cricketers of his time, representing Zimbabwe in 65 Tests, 189 ODIs while scoring 4933 runs and taking 455 wickets for his country across formats. Streak, till date, remains the only player from Zimbabwe with a double of 1000 runs and 100 wickets in Tests and 2000 runs and 200 wickets in ODIs. A number of his records still inspire cricketers, not just in Zimbabwe but across the world.

Mohun Bagan scripted a stunning second-half comeback to secure a 3-1 victory over Abahani Limited Dhaka in the AFC Cup playoffs at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Tuesday. The visitors impressed with their counter-attacking prowess in the first-half, capitalising on their swift breaks to create dangerous opportunities. Mario Lemos' tactics bore fruit in the 17th minute when their key marksman Cornelius Stewart benefitted from a goalkeeping howler by Vishal Kaith, to seize the opportunity against the run of play.
Bangladesh fast bowler Ebadot Hossain has been ruled out of the Bangladesh squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 with an injury and has been replaced with an uncapped pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib. Bangladesh had announced their 17-member squad for the Asia Cup 10 days ago, naming Shakib Al Hasan as the new captain. Ebdaot, who was a part of the initial squad, sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during Bangladesh's ODI series against Afghanistan last month. After the assessment, it was found out that the right-armer will need at least six weeks of rehabilitation and with the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup less than two months away, the BCB do not want to risk aggravating Ebadot's injury.
The Indian cricket team selectors have put their trust on young batter Tilak Varma by selecting the southpaw for the upcoming Asia Cup, starting August 30. It is worth noting that a total of four players -- Tilak, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mukesh Kumar and Rinku Singh -- made their India debut recently. Among them, only Tilak is the player who has got a place in the 17-member Indian team, including reserve Sanju Samson, for the continental event that will be jointly hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief selector Ajit Agarkar has revealed the reason behind the selection panel's picking of Tilak.
