CSK Rocked By Injury, Illness, Absenteeism Of 5 Players. Coach Stephen Fleming Delivers Sorry News

The Chennai Super Kings continue to dwindle in the final stretch of the league stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 campaign. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side suffered an embarrassing 7-wicke defeat at the hands of Punjab Kings on Wednesday, putting themselves in a tough spot over playoffs qualification. One of the biggest reasons behind CSK's defeat was injuries to key players and absenteeism of a few others. Speaking to media after the match, CSK coach Stephen Fleming revealed how CSK's squad has been reduced to bare minimum.

England Stars To Not Play In IPL Playoffs? ECB Provides Explosive Update

Pacer Jofra Archer will return to international cricket after a hiatus of 14 months after he was named in England's preliminary squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup here on Tuesday. Archer last played for England was in a T20I series against Bangladesh in March 2023. The 29-year-old was England's leading wicket-taker in that series with four scalps from three matches at an economy of 6.63. But since then Archer was forced to sit on the sidelines because of the recurrence of a stress fracture in his right elbow. "Jofra Archer has recovered from his right elbow injury and is named in the squad," said the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in its media release.

Fact Check: Did Veteran Bangladesh Cricketers Refuse To Play Under Female Umpire?

The Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match between Mohammedan Sporting and Prime Bank on Thursday witnessed a massive controversy over a female umpire officiating in the match, according to a report by The Daily Star. Shathira Jakir Jessy scripted history by becoming the first female umpire from Bangladesh to officiate in a DPL match after she was recently added in the ICC development panel. However, the occasion was marred by controversy as team officials from both sides were unhappy with the decision taken by Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) to appoint a female umpire. Wasim Akram Slams India, Pakistan Fans' Trolling, Says 'When Hardik Pandya's Kid..."

Hardik Pandya is clearly under pressure. His team Mumbai Indians are not their usual self while his own captaincy, since replacing Rohit Sharma in Mumbai Indians, is under the scanner. The effect on Pandya is so apparent that former India star Robin Uthappa recently said that Pandya may be battling mental health. "The mocking, trolling, the memes about his fitness. You don't think it hurts him? It hurts him. It hurts any human being. How many people actually know the reality of it? Hardik is dealing with mental health issues, for sure. We, as people, I understand, as Indians, we are emotional. But it is not right to impose this kind of treatment on any human being. It is unbecoming as a society for us to do that to someone and be okay with it. We should not be laughing along with it. We should not be forwarding these memes," he said on the Ranveer Show.
