Pakistan star pacer Shaheen Afridi could miss their upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh due to the birth of his first child. Shaheen and his wife Ansha, who got married last year, are expecting the birth of their first child, and he could miss the Test series against Bangladesh next month. "Shaheen can miss Bangaladesh Test matches due to childbirth. We can give him [some] rest if he wants to stay with his wife till then," said Pakistan's red-ball coach Jason Gillispie as quoted from Geo News.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has slotted its team's marquee Champions Trophy match against arch-rivals India in Lahore on March 1 next year but the BCCI is yet to give its consent to the tentative schedule, a senior ICC Board member told PTI on Wednesday. The tournament is slated from February 19 to March 9 with March 10 as Reserve Day. It is understood PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who was invited to watch the T20 World Cup final in Barbados, submitted a 15-match schedule with all of India's games kept in Lahore for security and logistical reasons.

Fielding and inconsistency were the two aspects of the Pakistan team that were heavily criticised. Veteran Bangladesh cricket team fast bowler Taskin Ahmed missed the T20 World Cup 2024 match against India due to 'oversleeping', a report claimed. The report stated that the team management could not contact Taskin as he was sleeping in his room and as a result, he missed the team bus in the build-up to the encounter. A team official was forced to stay back at the team hotel as they could not contact Taskin and he joined the squad late at the venue. The report added that Taskin has apologised to his teammates for missing the team bus and the coach decided not to play him for the India game.

New Head Coach Jason Gillespie Vows Consistency In Pakistan Test Side

Former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie Sunday vowed to make Pakistan a consistent side after taking charge as red-ball coach with a hectic six-month schedule in focus. The 49-year-old will start his two-year tenure with a two-match series against Bangladesh next month followed by three against England in October -- both at home. Pakistan will also tour South Africa for two Tests in December before hosting the West Indies in as many Tests in January next year. Gillespie, who arrived early Sunday, said Pakistan are a "talented" side but need consistency.

PCB Retain Muhammad Yusuf, Asad Shafiq In Revamped Selection Panel

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has retained former players Muhammad Yousuf and Asad Shafiq in the revamped selection committee which will pick the teams for the home Test series against Bangladesh next month. Yousuf and Shafiq were members of the previous selection committee which picked the T20 World Cup squad. The PCB sacked members Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq after the team failed to go beyond the first round in the mega event but surprisingly has retained Yousuf and Shafiq.
