Contrary to speculations throughout Saturday that Rishabh Pant could be moving out of Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, sources have told IANS firmly that the wicketkeeper-batter will remain with the franchise. Since Saturday morning, various sections of the media have claimed that Pant, also DC's captain, is potentially leaving the franchise. Sri Lanka Beat Bangladesh By 7 Wickets In Women's T20 Asia Cup

Hosts Sri Lanka started their campaign in the Women's T20 Asia Cup on a positive note, beating Bangladesh by seven wickets in Dambulla on Saturday. After restricting Bangladesh to a modest 111 for eight, Sri Lanka completed the task with 17 balls to spare, reaching 114/3 in 17.1 overs. Opting to bat first, Bangladesh were off to a disastrous start and lost three wickets with just six runs on the board. It soon became 17/4, and then 48/5, before skipper Nigar Sultana steadied the sinking ship with a 48-run knock that came off 59 balls and included six boundaries.

"Very Slim Chances": Ex-Pakistan Board Chief's Blunt Admission On India Travelling For Champions Trophy

Former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Khalid Mahmood believes India will not travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy early next year. "They are very very slim chances they will agree to play in Pakistan," Mahmood, who is a retired senior bureaucrat, said. The Pakistan Cricket Board has turned down requests for No Objection Certificate from senior players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi to participate in the Global T20 League, citing the hectic international calendar. “The PCB had received NOC requests from Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi for the Global T20 event, amongst other players. “After taking into consideration Pakistan's busy and packed cricket calendar in the period from August 2024 to March 2025, which includes nine ICC World Test Championship matches and next year's ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and following consultations with the three players as well as the national selection committee, it has been decided to decline their requests,” the board said in a statement.

BCCI's Stern Mandate Amid India vs Sri Lanka Squad Announcement That Will Impact Future Selections

The BCCI's media statement announcing the India cricket squad for the Sri Lanka Tour was an interesting one. Both the ODI and T20I squads had several interesting choices and omissions. Suryakumar's promotion as India T20I captain and Pandya's demotion from the leadership group were the main talking points. However, there was one line in the statement which seemed to convey a strong message. The BCCI media statement said that the Board "will continue to monitor player availability and participation in the upcoming domestic cricket season, 2024-25."
