7-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton will start tomorrow’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix from a lowly 16th place after a hugely surprising qualifying display from the Briton left him eliminated from Q1 on Saturday evening.
Lewis Hamilton’s struggles continued as he failed to make the cut in Q1 in qualifying in Saudi Arabia. His team and the former world champion will be concerned as not only was he well down on the leaders — Carlos Sainz topped the initial run ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in second and third went to Charles Leclerc ahead of the second run — but George Russell was in touching distance, in fourth place.

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc set the pace in final practice for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix as Lewis Hamilton could only finish 11th.
Russell told AFP he has a good working relationship with his new Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton and says it is primordial to "recognise our fight is not with each other" but with their rivals. Charles Leclerc recorded the fastest time in the third practice session at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on Saturday. With the end of the session closing in he put in a time of 1:29.735, just 0.033s ahead of current champion, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen. Ad/> Third fastest was Sergio Perez’s, Red Bull’s second driver, and Ferrari closed out the top four with Carlos Sainz.
