Lewis Hamilton remained optimistic about the season even as his Mercedes car continued to struggle in the ongoing Formula One season.
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton says he was left «a bit sore» after he was bouncing on the straights in practice at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku on Friday. Bouncing has been a problem for most teams on the F1 circuit this year after rules were introduced before the start of the 2022 season to make for closer races and easier overtaking. Former world champion Viswanathan Anand scored a win over Aryan Tari in the ninth and final round to finish third in the Norway Chess tournament which was won by world number one Magnus Carlsen. The 52-year-old Indian chess legend won the Armageddon encounter against Tari after the classical match finished in a 22-move draw. Anand was made to work hard by Tari in the sudden death tie-break as he needed 87 moves to secure the victory early on Saturday.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has rubbished claims made by Max Verstappen’s dad that the team “exerted little influence” in helping his son as the world championship leader, and insists there will be no favouritism over Sergio Perez. Perez has competed closer with Verstappen this season after winning his first race of the campaign in Monaco on May 29, and Jos Verstappen took to Max’s official website to vent his frustration against Red Bull’s tactics.
