Travis Head, David Miller, Pat Cummins Not Retained Ahead Of Major League Cricket Season 3 Draft

Major League Cricket (MLC) franchises have announced their retained players ahead of the third season's draft, set to take place on February 19. Several star players, including Australia's Travis Head and Pat Cummins, along with South Africa's Kagiso Rabada and David Miller, were not retained, ESPNCricinfo reported. Defending champions Washington Freedom retained 15 players, the most by any team, but let go of Head, their joint-highest run-getter alongside captain Steve Smith with 336 runs each. The franchise also let go of bowlers Akeal Hosein and Andrew Tye, who took two and five wickets each last season, as per ESPNCricinfo.

"It Has Come As...": Steve Smith Breaks Silence On Australia Star Reported For Illegal Action

Australia batter Steve Smith said he was "surprised" to know about spinner Matthew Kuhnemann being reported for suspect action during the Sri Lanka Test series. The stand-in captain backed the teammate to pass all tests to prove his bowling action was legal and come out clean. "It's come as a bit of a surprise to me. He has been playing for eight years in professional cricket and nothing has been said in that amount of time," Smith said. "I am thinking of him. At present, he has to go through the process. We're confident he will pass. He will go through that process back home. We wish him all the best," he added.

Tennis superstar Sinner accepts 3-month ban to end doping drama

MILAN:Jannik Sinner’s long doping saga came to an end on Saturday after he agreed to a three-month ban from tennis, the world number admitting “partial responsibility” for team mistakes which led to him twice testing positive for traces of clostebol in March last year. The February 9 to May 4 suspension means Sinner will be free to play in the French Open, the second Grand Slam of the season, which begins on May 25 at Roland Garros. In a statement, Sinner said that the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accepted that he “had no intent and did not derive any competitive advantage from the two positive tests” of the banned substance. Australian Open champion Sinner has always said that clostebol entered his system when his physiotherapist used a spray containing it to treat a cut before providing a massage and sports therapy. “This case had been hanging over me now for nearly a year and the process still had a long time to run with a decision maybe only at the end of the year,” Sinner said. “I have always accepted that I am responsible for my team and realize WADA’s strict rules are an important protection for the sport I love.
