"Everyone Was Waiting To See This Jasprit Bumrah": India Star's Massive Statement After T20I Win Over Ireland

The leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi showered praise on India's star pacer Jasprit Bumrah after his outstanding comeback performance against Ireland in the opening T20I of the three-match series on Friday. Bumrah-led India beat Ireland by two runs by the Duckworth-Lewis method in a rain-curtailed match in the opener of the three-match T20I series against Ireland in Dublin on Friday to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Ace India pacer Bumrah shone in his comeback outing against Ireland in Malahide after suffering a back ailment. Bumrah last played for India almost a year ago in a bilateral T20I series against Australia at home. A back ailment would keep him out of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022, necessitating surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation period.

Iga Swiatek Tops Marketa Vondrousova To Reach Cincinnati Open Semi-Finals

Top-seeded Iga Swiatek proved to be a quick learner as she ousted Marketa Vondrousova 7-6 (7/3), 6-1 in a battle of Grand Slam champions at the ATP/WTA Cincinnati Open. Swiatek, the reigning US Open and French Open champion, said she applied the lessons from her first-set struggles in the second to sweep past Wimbledon winner Vondrousova. She had lost serve twice in the opening set as she struggled with Vondrousova's lefty game, but broke as the Czech served for the set and eventually won the tiebreaker. Swiatek dominated the second set to claim the victory in 93 minutes. "It's not easy to adjust to her spin," Swiatek said. "After the first set, I was determined to fight for every ball.

"Bit Of 'Me, Me, Me'": Ex-Australia Captain Tim Paine Blasts Ben Stokes For Coming Out Of ODI Retirement To Play In World Cup

Former Australian Test skipper Tim Paine has lashed out at England Test captain Ben Stokes for coming out of ODI retirement to play in the World Cup, saying he cannot just "pick" and "choose" events.
