Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara's Era Ends With SA Test Snub? Sourav Ganguly Says "Cannot Be There..."

The experienced duo of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane were both not included as the Indian cricket team squad was announced for the upcoming Test series against South Africa. The squad included youngster Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal instead with most of the other major players retaining the spots. Former Indian cricket team skipper Sourav Ganguly was asked about the decision taken by the selection panel and he believes that it is time to give chances to new talent. He pointed out that the sports does not remain with someone forever and although both Rahane and Pujara have served the national side well, it is time for new batters to prove their mettle.

'Tricky' Call Between Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya For T20 World Cup: Ashish Nehra Drops 'IPL' Factor

Team India's squads for the upcoming tour of South Africa has been the topic of discussion lately. After reports emerged that veteran Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will miss the white-ball leg of tour (three T20Is and as many ODIs), the BCCI confirmed earlier this week that the star batters will return to the team for two-match Test series, starting December 26. With Rohit rested and vice-captain Hardik Pandya out injured, KL Rahul will lead the team in the 50-over format, while Suryakumar Yadav will get his first taste of India captaincy away from home, having led the side to a T20I series-win over Australia on Friday.

"A Three Format Player": Ashish Nehra's Massive Verdict On Team India Youngster

Former Indian cricket team fast bowler Ashish Nehra was all praise for Ruturaj Gaikwad following his sensational century against Australia in third T20I encounter in Guwahati. Gaikwad looked in tremendous form against the Australian bowlers as he raced to a century with the help of 13 fours and seven sixes. It was the first-ever T20I century for the young batter and he maintained a strike rate above 200. In a recent interaction, Nehra said that Gaikwad's game is extremely well suited for the T20 format but added that considering what he brings to the table, he is a 'three format player' for the Indian cricket team.
