In a sudden move after Team India's victory against Australia in the opening Test of the 5-match series in Perth, head coach Gautam Gambhir has reportedly flown back home. The development comes unexpectedly since there wasn't any plan for Gambhir or any other member of the team to head back home. Gambhir reportedly informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of a 'personal reason' that required him to fly back. It isn't yet known exactly when the India coach would return but he is likely to reunite the team before the second Test in Adelaide.
Former Indian cricket team head coach Ravi Shastri recently shared a heartwarming story about star batter Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma. The Bollywood actress' reaction went viral recently following Virat's brilliant century against Australia in the Perth Test. In a video that has surfaced on social media, Shastri recalled how Virat wanted Anushka to join the team during the series in Australia back in 2015. While wives of cricketers are allowed on tours, Virat and Anushka were dating each other at that point and it was Shastri who asked the BCCI to allow her to join them. Despite putting in a solid show with the bat for India in the Perth Test, KL Rahul seems to be fearing for his place in the team for the second match of the series in Adelaide. Rahul was the only Indian batter to register decent scores in both innings - scoring 26 and 77 - but he isn't sure if he will be in India's XI for the second match of the series. The reason behind this fear is the return of skipper Rohit Sharma.
Former Australia wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist said Josh Hazlewood's comments post a crushing day three's play for the hosts in the first Test against India have suggested to him that there is a likelihood of divide in the dressing room. In the post-day press conference after day three ended, Hazlewood was asked about how Australia would approach day four. His response to the query was, “You probably have to ask one of the batters that question.
