Former Pakistan cricketer and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja feels that star batter Babar Azam has yet to achieve his best in the Test format. Babar was rested for the last two Tests against England after his poor form. Pakistan won both the matches and secured the series 2-1, the first under Shan Masood's rein. In 55 Tests, Babar has scored 3,997 runs at an average of 43.92. However, he has not scored a Test half-century since 2022 and has seen a dip in form in a year where he was made captain and then left the post after Pakistan suffered a group-stage exit in this year's T20 World Cup in June.
India all-rounder Washington Sundar is set to go under the hammer at the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, scheduled to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia next month. Sundar, who picked 11 wickets in the recently-concluded second Test against New Zealand, is unlikely to be retained by his franchise, the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction. According to a report in the Times of India (TOI), Sundar has garnered interest from Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans.
Pakistan's new white-ball captain Muhammad Rizwan, after initial reluctance, has agreed to the PCB's new selection policy and will not have any voting right in the short-listing of touring squads or the playing eleven, according to a source in the board. "After discussions with the (Pakistan Cricket) Board chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, and senior selector, Aaqib Javed, Riwan agreed to the new system where his input in the selection process would be strictly advisory," a source said.
