The drafts for the tenth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) were made on Monday in Lahore with many big names getting picked by the franchises. After going unsold in the Indian Premier League 2025 auction, the likes of David Warner and Kane Williamson were also roped in for Pakistan's T20 league. However, a big shock came after sensational Pakistan pacer Ihsanullah was not picked by any team in the PSL draft. Resulting this, the right-arm pacer announced his retirement from the PSL.
Although India will play its Champions Trophy matches at a neutral venue, the team captain is expected to visit the host nation Pakistan to attend the opening ceremony of the prestigious event, which is making a return after an eight-year hiatus, sources said. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is planning a grand opening ceremony of the Champions Trophy, tentatively scheduled for February 16 or 17, subject warm-up match itinerary. All team captains are to take part in the opening ceremony, which is a standard practice for ICC events.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that the squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy this year will be announced by February 18 or 19. South Africa, the semifinalists of the 2023 ODI World Cup, are placed in group B of the Champions Trophy. They will start their campaign against Afghanistan in Karachi on February 21 before meeting Australia in Rawalpindi on February 25 and their final group game is against England on March 1.
The Proteas on Monday confirmed a 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, which will be held in Pakistan from 19 February to 9 March.
