England reached the Under-19 Cricket World Cup final after a late flurry of wickets secured a 15-run DLS win over Afghanistan.
England face Afghanistan in the Super League Semi-Final 1 of the ongoing ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Tuesday. Captained by Tom Prest, England have been in fantastic form and topped Group A. They followed it up with a fine six-wicket win vs South Africa in their quarter-final fixture. Meanwhile, Afghanistan won two of their three Group C games to finish second. In the quarter-finals, the Suliman Safi-led team defeated Sri Lanka by four runs. Both teams will be aiming to seal a win in what could be an exciting fixture. Meanwhile, India face Australia in the semi-final 2 on Wednesday. (LIVE SCORECARD)
BCCI released the full list of players set to go under the hammer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction scheduled to take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. All the 10 IPL franchises - Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Team Ahmedabad will look to build a solid team with some of the biggest national and international stars of the game. Out of the 590 players, 370 Indian players and 220 overseas players will up for auction. 33 players were retained by the 10 IPL franchises.
After Rashid Khan's recent unorthodox exploits with the bat, another Afghanistan cricketer Rahmanullah Gurbaz took centrestage as he produced an epic "helicopter" shot in a game between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). Islamabad batter Gurbaz brought out the "helicopter" in the 15th over of the run-chase against pacer Sohail Khan as the ball was dispatched over the mid-wicket boundary for a maximum. Even the commentators applauded this unorthodox style of batting which yielded six runs for the batter.

The England U19 team will take on Afghanistan U19 in the first semi-final of the ongoing U19 World Cup at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound in Antigua. England defeated Bangladesh, Canada, UAE and South Africa on their journey to the semis while Afghanistan went past Papua New Guinea, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka to qualify for the last-four stage. Afghanistan recovered well after suffering a 24-run loss in their second match against Pakistan and showcased immense composure in the next games.
England’s youngsters are just one win away from securing a place in the Under-19 World Cup final for the first time in almost a quarter of a century.
