The 2021/22 PFA Team of the Year was named on Thursday evening. Six Liverpool players were named in the side: Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Thiago, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
Manchester City had three representatives: Joao Cancelo, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva. While Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) also made the side.
It was the fifth time that Ronaldo has been named in the PFA Team of the Year. Following the awards, we’ve named the XI that have made the most appearances in the PFA Team of the Year in Premier League history. Goalkeeper: David de Gea – 5 After making his first appearance in 2012/13, De Gea was named in the Team of the Year in four consecutive seasons from 2014/15 to 2017/18. Right-back: Gary Neville – 5 A dependable right-back, Neville made 400 Premier League appearances for Manchester United. Centre-back: Gary Pallister/John Terry/Nemanja Vidic – 4 Pallister, Terry and Vidic were all named in the PFA Team of the Year four times.
