Emma Raducanu breaks silence after withdrawing from another tournament

British tennis star Emma Raducanu has broken her silence after withdrawing from another tournament.

It was confirmed on Tuesday that the world No.55 had exited the forthcoming Hong Kong Open due to a persistent foot injury, which also compelled her to retire from her Korea Open quarter-final over a month ago. Hours following the announcement of her withdrawal, Raducanu reached out to fans via social media.

"Hellooo, I'm sorry to say that I will not be able to play in Hong Kong next week," she said on X (formerly known as Twitter).

"Whilst my foot is making good progress, I need a little more time before I am match fit. I hope to be able to come back and play this tournament in the future! In the meantime, I am doing what I can to be ready for BJKC."

Raducanu remains part of Britain's squad for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals scheduled for next month and expressed her hopes of utilising the Hong Kong Open as a warm-up prior to the group event. Her absence casts uncertainty on her participation in the Billie Jean King Cup.

With the Billie Jean King Cup Finals pitting Team GB against Germany on November 15, Raducanu has just over three weeks to get prepared. Alongside Raducanu in the national squad are teammates Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart, Heather Watson, and Olivia Nicholls.

However, team captain Anne Keothavong can makeup to three changes until the day before their first match, which allows Raducanu to delay her decision to withdraw and be replaced by another player until the last minute.
